Prakash Puru
Magician
From a nightclub in Nairobi, to a Christmas party in Honolulu; from an intimate, after-dinner performance of mind-reading at The Dakota in New York City, to a demonstration of card-cheating at the Ritz-Carlton Millennia Singapore; from entertaining at a New Year's Eve celebration aboard a yacht, to reading the minds of the New York Yankees at a gala dinner; Prakash Puru is in constant demand to perform his distinctive blend of magic and mind-reading at corporate events, cocktail receptions, and private dinner parties worldwide.
SHOWS
What differentiates Prakash?
Despite the fact that today's audiences demand nothing less than world-class, personalised entertainment, most magicians still insist in performing on stage. A room of guests becomes forced to abandon their private conversations, and focus on a performer who can often barely be seen. Far from being entertained or indulged, guests are instead reduced to being mere spectators from afar - making for an entirely vapid, lacklustre event.
By contrast, Prakash performs close-up; reading the minds of your guests whilst standing mere inches away, and alternately making objects disappear, reappear, and float in mid-air whilst within touching distance. Each of your guests thus experiences a unique, one-of-a-kind performance. To this end, Prakash offers three distinct shows, all of which aim to provide clients with a singularly memorable occasion.
The Magician Who Came to Dinner
"Thank you for a great evening! We loved it." - Roger Yaseen
"You are quite frightening..." - Sandy Baxter, VP Human Resources, The Blackstone Group
Prakash's most often-requested showpiece is also the ultimate in personalised magical entertainment, from a performer who thoroughly understands the concept. Prakash created this show to suit the demands of party-throwers who desire nothing less than the best. After dinner with your guests - be they a selection of your closest friends or clients of particular importance - you are treated to an incomparable performance by Prakash in the cosiness of your hospitality suite, living room, or private dining room. Over the course of the performance, Prakash gently hypnotises and gleefully reads the minds of your guests, and dazzles with sleight-of-hand miracles in an evening that your friends will talk about for months to come.
The format of this show makes it eminently suitable for:
Private Dinner Parties
Hotel & Hospitality Suites
Corporate Retreats
Parlours & smaller theatres
Prakash At Large
"Wow, wow, and wow again!" - Cheryl Kallem, First Manhattan Co.
Despite the large guest-list of a cocktail reception or corporate banquet, Prakash still provides the indulgence of a unique magical experience. He roams throughout the room - elegantly mingling with guests in a manner that no other speaker, performer, or entertainer can - and creates a personalised performance for each group. No two performances are alike. Playing cards vanish and re-appear, objects move of their own accord, and guests are told things about themselves - memories from their childhood, the names of distant relatives - that even their closest friends couldn't possibly know. The result: An evening that your guests will thank you for.
This show format lends itself to:
Cocktail Receptions
Networking Events
Conferences & Corporate Retreats
Bar & Bat Mitzvahs
Company Functions & Charity Galas
Cruises & Yacht Parties
An Affair at The Card Table
"Your skill with cards is amazing." - The Ritz-Carlton Millennia Singapore
Drawing on the experiences of his formative years spent working alongside some of the world's leading sleight-of-hand artists, Prakash whisks his audience into the world of gambling and card-cheating. In an inimitably entertaining manner that appeals to both serious high-rollers and casual card players, Prakash demonstrates bottom deals, riffle stacks, the double duke, and other ruses by which cardsharps and crooked gamblers gain an edge. After the evening's performance, players are left in a cold sweat at the thought of ever finding themselves sitting across Prakash at a card table.

Bespoke Performances
Prakash is often asked to tailor and customise his shows to suit the particular needs of an event. At a recent corporate function, for example, Prakash first performed during the cocktail networking session, acting as a bridge between guests - albeit a bridge that reads minds and makes playing cards transform at will. He then entertained a select number of attendees with two distinctive late-night performances in the company's hotel suite. Or consider a yacht party at which Prakash was asked to begin the evening by informally mingling with the crowd, then later re-joining them after dinner for a formal performance of sleight-of-hand and mentalism in the ship's library.

CONSULTING
A psychic might refer to his abilities at 'precognition," whereas an occultist talks of his "gifts of prophesy." Mediums speak of "passing into spirit," while practitioners of psychometry speak of "energy" and "aura." Astrologists seem fond of the phrase "alignment," even as and acupuncturists concern themselves with "meridians."
Similarly, while a magician holds a deck of cards in a Mechanics Grip and a single-deck blackjack dealer frames the cards in a Box Grip, a card mechanic typically holds a deck in a Full Grip. The same cardsharp may be dealing deuces or bases. Or perhaps he's dealing fairly but running up a hand during the shuffle, in which case he'll also need to hop the cut if he's working single-o.
Details are crucial for any writer, director, or actor who wishes his work to be as authentic as possible. Prakash's extensive knowledge apropos the intricacies of conjuring and deception - coupled with his ability to actually perform such moves - has resulted in him frequently being called upon to consult for both television and theatre productions. He most recently aided in designing and writing a series of simulated con games for Singaporean television.

PROFILE
After being booked by almost every major hotel in Singapore - including The Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, Shangri-La Hotel, and an unprecedented extended engagement at The Ritz-Carlton Millennia - and entertaining at literally hundreds of private parties and corporate events, Prakash firmly cemented himself as one of the leading close-up magicians in the region.
A few weeks after his re-location to New York City, Prakash was invited to be a featured performer at Monday Night Magic - New York's longest-running production of its kind, boasting a weekly showcase of the top magicians from five continents. He is the only magician from Asia to have received such an honour.
In addition to countless personalised performances to date, his media engagements include appearing on Singapore television - consulting and writing for, and acting in, a series of faux con games - and on American television - performing live on the Fox News Channel's "Good Day New York."
He is currently based in Manhattan, from whence he travels to events and parties both throughout the country and across the world.
